I’ve always been a fan of Mary Douglas Drysdale, particularly because she’s always been a fan of unique pieces of art that she sources for her clients. This month’s Home & Design Magazine features one of those projects in DC’s Kalorama neighborhood, and most of the art happens to be local.
“I love that this really supports DC galleries, and DC contractors,” she wrote to me in an email. “The galleries represented are Hemphill, G Fine Art, and Cross MacKenzie, with most of the artists coming from DC.” I’m happy to pass on the love:

As Mary told Home & Design editor Julie Sanders of the art and photography, “these are all Washington artists, so they create a bit of a Washington story.” Add to that the fact that Mary was raised in the same neighborhood where her client now lives, and you’ve got a lot of hometown heroes.
I have always loved how Mary creates her interiors to include art so prominently for clients. And her own art collection is quite something.
I completely agree, Jeanne!
Great post, Jen! I’m such a fan of Mary’s interior design work and her eye for art. It’s wonderful that this project highlights DC artists and galleries. I was first introduced to Maryanne Pollock and Maxwell MacKenzie’s work through Mary and have enjoyed following their work since. We have a lot of artistic talent here to celebrate in DC.
