I’m gonna own this: I’m a TOTAL goober for all things royal. When I was 12, I got up at 4:30 a.m. to watch Charles and Diana get married. I got up early to watch Diana’s funeral procession. And of course I got up to watch William and Kate’s wedding (TiVo, and watch later?? No way).
So I was over the moon to hear that Adam Mahr, the proprietor at A Mano in upper Georgetown, is bringing some royal baby bootie to our fair city.
This summer, Adam was in London negotiating with Highgrove, the retail arm that raises money for Prince Charles’ charities, to bring back baby gift baskets being produced in honor of the new little prince
or princess (It’s a boy!!). Only 200 are being assembled, Adam says, and No. 1 goes to Kate.
Adam — or 11 of his lucky customers, that is, will get Nos. 10-20, which should arrive by fall. Here’s a peek:
They’ll cost about $300 each, a pittance for the honor of saying your little boo boo has the same Teddy as the tiny royal heir.
As we all eagerly await word today (c’mon, you are and you know it) of whether Kate’s having a boy (!!)
or girl, let’s think about what’s waiting for the precious tyke back at home, courtesy of Highgrove.
